With many younger children now attending Pre-school settings most practitioners are familiar with nappy changing and toileting procedures. Staff should be expected to take ‘reasonable steps’ to support children who have extra toileting needs. It is against the sentiments of the DDA for any setting to refuse entry to a child who is not completely toilet trained.
Health Care Plans should be in place for children with identified medical needs. Advice can be obtained from health care professionals and they should be involved in the writing of any plan. Note: Medicine forms and Health Care Plans can be found in the DfES/Department of Health document listed in the ‘Further reading’ section at the end of the chapter.
